Italy has something for everyone and is a goal that brought a lot of visits to fully appreciate. Travelers have been fascinated by the mountain, art, landscapes, people and food for many years. Below I will explain some important italian travel tips you should know before you go.

General Tips
1. Many of the resorts do not allow photography – especially museums.
2. Considered rude to walk around the cities in bikinis, beachwear, shorts or    minimal clothing.
3. America and Europe using a variety of DVD formats, so what works at home might not work in Italy. This is a slight problem with the rise of the Multi Region DVD.
4. Return or exchange an item, even if the defect is not common in Italy shop so make sure you check things carefully before you buy.
5. Some stores will not allow you to try a shirt and blouse.
6. Restaurant wheelchair access to the bathroom often, such as ramps and elevators are in old buildings. Buses are also generally not compatible with the wheelchair.
7. Topless sunbathing is common in northern Italy and central coast, but not recommended in the more conservative and traditional south.
8. Hotels often do not have a swimming pool or video games, while almost nothing on radio or television is in English.

Health and Safety
1. Olive oil and wine are basic ingredients in Italian cooking. They are also a natural laxative that can cause problems for those with sensitive stomachs.
2. In an emergency, dial 113.
3. If you are in trouble and need help passers by, yell AIUTO (pronounced ay-you-toe), which is Italian for HELP!
4. Serious crimes are rare, but pickpockets and purse-snatchers are more common in cities largeer.
5. Stick to bottled water as tap water sometimes italian highly chlorinated

Eating out
1. Italians usually take their meals as noted, rarely make specific requests, such as “hold the mayo.”
2. Do not wait for the check – ask for it.
3. Tip with cash. A ’servizio’ charges are usually included but a small tip appreciated.
4. Breakfast is usually served from 7-10:30 am, lunch from 12:30-2:30 pm, and dinner from 7:30-10pm. Peak lunch and dinner hours are 1 and 9.
5. Almost no restrictions on alcohol. This can be purchased at any time on every day and there is no minimum drinking age.
6. Children’s menu is almost never sounded so ask in advance for a half portion if necessary.

Opening Times and Holidays
1. Banks are open 8:30-1:30 weekdays and sometimes for an hour in the afternoon.
2. While some large churches are open all day, most are open from morning until noon and then shut down for three to four hours, before opening again, and close at 6.
3. Many museums close on Monday.
4. Most shops are closed between 1pm and 3:30 PM for lunch. Because to Italy became a Catholic country, many stores closed on Sundays.
5. Try and avoid traveling to Italy in August as most local residents were on holiday and everything was closed.
6. Besides Christmas, New Year and Easter, also celebrated Italian: Epiphany (January 6), Liberation Day (April 25), May Day (May 1), Festival Republic (June 2), Farragosto (November 1), All Saints Day ( November 1), Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8), Feast of St. Stephen (Dec. 26).
