Did you know that Italy’s history dates back many centuries ago? Yes, the first civilization which worsened in the area were the Etruscans, precisely in the eighth century before the Common Era. At that time, some Greek settlers came to the southern areas, which then form part of Magna Graecia.

The story that follows then is known by all. The Roman Empire conquered the territory and subject to all the people living there. By this time the Latin language is the most common form of communication.

In 509 before the Common Era was founded the first Roman republic and the pillars of democracy. Empire gradually develops the Italian cities for infrastructure and public works.

Years later the Italian territory becomes dominated by the people of the Goths and such period is known as the Dark Ages. Who comes then? The Lombards, the Franks, the Byzantines and the Germans, Normans and Muslims. The period of the invasion came to an end in the year 962 while opening the Holy Roman Empire. You’ll know by then the Church and the Papacy and institutions were formed.

Italy scored a certain way of world history with the Renaissance. Here were born and developed great artists, including notable painters, architects, poets, philosophers and sculptors. Did you know that at that time many European monarchies wanted to have the Italian territory? Yes, including Spain and Austria, who just managed to venture into areas in Italy.
